At Baby Joon, we believe that creating a safe and healthy environment for play is paramount. That’s why all of our playmats are made from high-quality TPU-Foam, an eco-friendly non-toxic material which is free from any hazardous substances.
TPU stands for thermoplastic polyurethane, a plastics family which has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its versatility and superior physical properties compared to other materials. One of the most notable features of TPU is its elasticity — it stretches and returns to its original shape very quickly, making it perfect for baby play mats. TPU also has excellent physical stability under various temperatures, meaning it won’t distort or creep over time like some other materials can.
On top of this, TPU is highly resistant to chemicals such as oils, grease, and alcohols as well as being resistant to abrasion and fungi growth. This makes it a great choice for our playmats since it’s easy to clean and maintain without fear of damaging the material or leaching potentially toxic chemicals into your baby’s environment.
In addition, TPU foams have many environmental advantages too. They contain no chlorinated compounds or hydrocarbons, so they don’t release any volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air upon heating or manufacturing processes — unlike some other foam materials which do emit VOCs during production.
And once our mats reach the end of their lifespan? Unlike other foam materials which cannot be recycled without releasing more hazardous chemicals into the environment, our TPU-based Mats are designed to naturally degrade once placed in soil with no secondary waste generated; allowing them to be safely segregated after use and disposed off through normal channels with ease!
It's clear then why we use TPU at Baby Joon: both for your safety and peace of mind when playing with your little ones and also for its eco-friendly credentials ensuring minimal impact on our planet when they eventually come to disposal!
